Top 5 Cheapest Domestic Airlines in Bangladesh | Airlines Business (2023)

As a developing country, Bangladesh does not have a large number of domestic airlines at present. However, the government is expected to focus on expanding this sector in the future to boost the country’s economic growth. Over the years, 32 airlines have attempted to enter Bangladesh’s commercial aviation market, but only a few have been successful in running profitable businesses. Currently, there are three scheduled airlines, four cargo airlines, and over ten charter flights operating in Bangladesh. These domestic scheduled and cargo airlines are working tirelessly to enhance the nation’s potential in the global market. By connecting different regions of the country and facilitating the transportation of goods and people, they play a crucial role in driving economic development.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Bangladesh and operates scheduled passenger flights to both domestic and international destinations. Novoair, US-Bangla Airlines, and Regent Airways are privately-owned domestic airlines that offer scheduled passenger flights to various domestic and international destinations. As the aviation sector in Bangladesh continues to grow, it is expected that more airlines will enter the market, increasing competition and improving services for consumers. The government’s commitment to promoting the aviation sector bodes well for the future of domestic airlines in Bangladesh.

Air Astra is a new airline in Bangladesh that has recently obtained a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on November 4, 2021. This is a significant milestone for the airline, as it is one of the necessary regulatory approvals required to launch a new airline in Bangladesh. Furthermore, Air Astra is in the process of obtaining its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) for commercial launch. Once this is complete, the airline will be able to launch its operations and begin offering flights to passengers in Bangladesh.

Initially, Air Astra was scheduled to operate its inaugural flight in January 2022. However, due to the delay in the Air Operator Certification procedure, the launch has been postponed. The airline is currently working closely with the authorities to expedite the process and ensure that it can begin its operations as soon as possible. Despite the delay in the launch, Air Astra has already established a fleet of two ATR 72-600 planes. These aircraft are an excellent choice for a new airline as they are efficient, reliable, and well-suited for the domestic market in Bangladesh.
